Foundation for Emergency Response & Development Action (FERDA) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established through a wide consultative process among communities in South Sudan. Conceived in 2005, FERDA became functional in 2020 and was fully registered in 2023 with the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) and the Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SRRA). The organization aims to alleviate poverty, ensure well-being, advance dignity, and undertake innovative development programmes. FERDA primarily targets distressed and hard-core poor individuals, especially vulnerable adults, women, youth, and children.
FERDA employs a people-centric approach, organizing distressed women and youth into homogeneous groups for development through motivation, awareness-building, and education. The organization empowers these community members with education, training, and experience-sharing, facilitating economic activities through micro-credit support to alleviate poverty and promote economic rights and resource control among women and youth.
